BMC accomondates departments from three different faculties of Uppsala University (Medicine, Pharmacy and Science & Technology) and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. The departments function as educational centres for basic training of students in disciplines such as pharmacy, medicine, veterinary medicine and biotechnology. Every year, several thousands of students attend courses at BMC. In addition to basic training, the faculties also provide an extensive education through research programmes, which constitute an integrated part of traditional research.

At the biomedical center in Uppsala the “SciLifeLab The Svedberg” seminar series is running on a weekly basis. This seminar series has a history from the middle of the 70s and a committee invites leading scientist from Sweden and worldwide to hold research seminars within the field of bioscience. The SciLifeLab The Svedberg Seminar series is also a research course for graduate students. By attending ten seminars in one semester, two higher education credits are achieved. More information about how to attend the course can be found at the course website
